Prices
The number we say on the phone is the number on the invoice.
This is the whole list, published because we're happy for you to compare it. Every job gets a firm price before we start, and it stays put whatever day it is.
The promise
"Price agreed first", step by step.
This is the whole system. It hasn't changed since Dad wrote it on the side of the first van.

Tell us what you can see and hear. A photo by text helps if it's safe to take one. If water is moving, we'll get you to the stopcock first and talk prices second.
We ask the boring questions
Where's the water coming from, how old is the boiler, is the drain inside or out. Two minutes of questions is what lets us give a price that doesn't wobble later.
You get a number
On the phone for the common jobs, on the doorstep for the odd ones. Always before anything is opened, lifted or unscrewed.
You say yes, or you say no
No is fine and costs nothing, including on an emergency callout where we've quoted at the door and you'd rather wait for the morning.
The invoice matches
To the pound. If we find something extra mid-job, work stops, you get a new number, and you decide. The original price never quietly grows.
The full ledger
Every price we quote, line by line.
Prices include VAT. Anything odd or awkward gets a firm quote on the phone or at the door, same promise.

The callout charge
What the £85 actually buys.
Callout charges have a bad name because some firms use them as a foot in the door. Here's exactly where ours starts and stops.
A Gas Safe plumber, a stocked van and a phone that's answered at any hour. That readiness is most of what the £85 pays for.
Most emergencies, burst pipes, blocked loos, failed valves, are finished inside it. When they are, £85 is the whole bill apart from parts.
Daytime jobs booked in advance have no callout charge at all. You pay the hourly rate or the fixed price from the ledger, nothing on top.
And if we arrive, quote at the door, and you decide to wait until morning instead: you pay nothing. Saying no is free at any point before the work starts.
Nights, weekends, bank holidays
Christmas Day is charged like a Tuesday.
Pipes don't check the calendar before they burst, so we don't check it before we price.
Most emergency firms double their rate after 6pm and triple it on bank holidays, which is why a midnight leak can cost more than a new bathroom door. Ours is simpler: the callout is £85 and the hour is £60, whatever the clock or the calendar says.
We can do it because there are three of us sharing the on-call rota, and because the 3am jobs are already priced into an honest daytime rate rather than hidden in a scary nighttime one.
Parts and paying
No markups, no deposits, no chasing.
You see the merchant receipt for anything we fit, from a washer to a boiler. What we charge for is the hour and the know-how, never a margin on the part.
Card on the doorstep, bank transfer or cash, whichever suits. Bathrooms are the one exception: a third up front for materials, the rest on the Friday you're happy.
Invoice and any certificates emailed before the van is home. Everything itemised, so your insurer or your landlord can read exactly what was done.
