Fenwick's / Find us
Two minutes down from the clock tower, opposite the bakery. The blue and cream frontage with the pole outside. If the pole is turning, we're cutting.
Opening hours
Six days a week, and the last cut goes in fifteen minutes before we close.
Beat the queue
Thirty nine years of Saturdays teaches you the pattern. Here it is, honestly.
The busy one
The busiest hour of the week, every week. The queue goes out the door and the bench fills by nine. Book this one or bring a paper and settle in.
The quiet ones
The quietest chairs of the week. Walk in between 2pm and 4pm and you will almost always go straight in, with your pick of the three chairs.
Steady
Busy but moving. Three chairs running means the bench clears fast; twenty minutes is the worst wait you should ever see. Book if you are on the clock.
The sleeper
Quieter than people think. Fine for walk-ins most days, just remember the last cut goes in fifteen minutes before we close, and we mean it kindly but we mean it.
Getting here
From the clock tower, walk downhill for two minutes and look right. We are opposite the bakery, and between the two of us you will smell them first.
The frontage is blue and cream and has not changed since 1987, so any regular can describe it to you from memory. The pole is the giveaway. If it is turning, we are open and there is a chair with your name on it.
Coming by bus, get off at the top of the hill and you are ninety seconds away. On a bike, there is a rack right outside the bakery, and yes, they will watch it if you ask nicely.
Book a chair
Booking runs through our online diary. The button below opens it, you pick a barber and a time, and the chair is held for you. No account, no deposit, about thirty seconds.
The diary shows live times for all three chairs. Rather not bother? Walk in, the next free chair is yours.
The book online button takes you straight to it. Every free slot for the next two weeks is on there.
Danny, Marco or Ryan, or first free chair if you are easy. Add your name and phone number and that is it.
Your chair is held for ten minutes past your time. Running late? Ring us and we will shuffle things round.
